After Divorce

During my 20 something marriage, I raised 4 wonderful kids. I had the pleasure of staying home to raise them for the most part, which was wonderful. I did some "time" being a Home Daycare provider a few times to help make ends meet while I stayed at home. It was great to have friends for my Children when they were young and at home.
I said "Time" because....as much as I enjoyed the job, there were times that I hated it. I'll have to discuss that adventure sometime.
I spent two school years with my two middle children, Home Schooling them. THAT was interesting. Rewarding, but very very difficult.
I had as well spent most of my 20 some years with my X-husband, supporting him and his family's Lumber and Hardware Store. I worked a lot of hours at the store, and many at home doing bookwork.
I did not have anytime for myself.
My X however, took a lot of personal vacations. His preferred time off was spent overseas either alone or with employees or friends. He did manage a trip or two with the older two Kids. One was to Europe and the other China.
My idea of vacation was never much of an interest for him. I did get to travel to a few places of his choosing. We did a Cruise to Alaska together, another to the Panama Canal, and took all four kids to Mexico via a Cruise Boat. Those were nice trips. But what I wanted to do, was take the kids camping and fishing. Take a weekend to the Beach. Take long car trips to visit other areas here in the States. Maybe rent a Cabin? But he likes traveling the World. And often told me that we would never do the simple things that I wanted to do.

Now, after the Divorce, life is changing for me. And I AM doing the things I wanted to do!

My Children are at the age that they either live on their own, or are close to it. My daughter who is 20 lives in Portland, which is less then an hours drive from me here in Washington. My 3 Boys still live in Corvallis near my X. (two live with him, one lives on his own). That leaves me here without them, which is very difficult. However, as a Mom, I understand that at their age, Friends and school are very important! I chose to leave Corvallis and move two hours away.

Anywho.....I spent the last 20 some years doing the everyday wife and mother routine. I didn't have girlfriends to go out with, Tupperware parties to attend or Soccer games to watch. I focused on my Kids, and the husbands work.
NOW, I am rediscovering life. Want to see??

Life, AFTER Divorce!

I have learned to shoot guns. I always hated guns, but I have to admit, target shooting WAS kinda cool!

I got to try out Welding.

I went camping! This was a place my parents took our family to while growing up. I had not been there but one time for the past 24 years! I loved it!

I have met some wonderful new friends! Summer camp fires roasting Marshmallows and signing Outdoor School songs with the kids.

Who says you have to grow up?! This is Mikey, getting a surprise dousing of silly string during a summer day at the River.

Me fishing! I grew up fishing with my folks, so this was a great thing to do again!

I have taken my Kids fishing! And have enjoyed a wonderful summer on the River.

I bought some Chickens! I have wanted to try my hand at raising Chickens for years, but was not "allowed" to. Now, I have them! The 2 white ones in this picture and the black one, unfortunately were roaming the small pasture I have, and had the misfortune of running into Coyotes. Sad sad days...
I have replaced them, and now have 6.
I was given an amazing surprise Birthday party! I have not had a party since I was a kid!
We swam on the river and BBQ'ed all day! My Parents brought my kids up (Surprise!) and many new friends followed.

4 Wheeling! I cannot actually drive a stick, but I can roll down the hill!

My Girls! I am now getting 2 eggs a day. Brown and green! The others should start laying anytime now.
Christmas with my Boyfriend, Mike.
Mike and I met over 27 years ago when we were teenagers. He was 15 and I was 14. We met while I was camping with my folks and he worked at the Lodge. We had a long distance relationship for the better part of the next 4 years. We then lost contact. We spoke once when we were in our very early 20's and shared our lives and our stories about each of our new children. One year ago I found him on Facebook. He helped me through my divorce and our relationship has grown ever since. Now, after being so far apart for as long as we have known each other, I now live in the same town as him!
